Shayna's Theme Class

If you guys haven't noticed, we love a good theme class! Shayna tells us the WHY behind her Pop Punk themed class choice.

"Of all the things I love about barre, the music is my favourite! Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve always had a thing for music and I love listening to lots of different genres and styles. When you come to my class you can expect a wide variety of genres and beats to barre to! The other day someone asked me if I picked this theme or had it ‘given to me’ and it made me realize that I wanted to give a little back story to why I chose ‘Pop-Punk Barre’ for this theme class.

My love of music came from growing up in a pretty musical household and being surrounded with different instruments and music lessons growing up. I have 4 older brothers who heavily influenced my musical taste during my teenage years. It was pretty common to hear Blink 182, Sum 41 and Green Day in our house on a daily basis. So, naturally in high school during our ‘Skateboarding and Punk Rock’ phase, my brother and I were in a band with some of his friends and we covered all of our favourite punk rock hits!

My taste in music has changed over the years and I, thankfully, grew out of my ‘skateboarder’ phase, but I still know all the words to these songs and mix them into my listening rotation every now and then when I’m feeling nostalgic. I couldn’t be more excited about this theme class and can’t wait to rock out at the barre to my fave punk pop hits!

And, I know you’re dying to know.. I played the bass guitar and sang backup in the band."
